I have owned Cavalier King Charles since 1994 and therefore have extensive knowledge of the breed, so you can be assured that if you are adopting a pup from us it will be a well adjusted very sociable happy little pup. To see what others have to say and the experience they have had with us, check out my Guestbook.
I am Licensed to breed having in March 2010 been granted my Breeding License with Wirral Borough Council. I have had my dogs and premises inspected by The Environmental Health & the RSPCA who both expressed how well my dogs and premises are kept, infact one comment made was that it was "nice to see someone doing it right".
I am Kennel Club Accredited which means that I have to follow certain guidelines with regards to health and welfare of my dogs and puppies. Infact in August 2009 I had an inspection from a representative of the Kennel Club. This was an inspection of not only the dogs but the premises and the conditions the dogs lived in. This inspection went very well and the representative said that he was very impressed with my dogs. The Kennel Club expressed no concerns and infact couldnt make any suggestions to me on any area that would require improvement!
All my Breeding Bitches & Stud Dogs hold Clear Eye Certificates. My Irish Setter is CLA/PRAD Hereditary Clear and Hip Scored. I am also a Qualified Micro Chip Implantor. I am registered with Pedigree and Beta Breeder Clubs.
I strive to maintain a good relationship with families who take pups from us so that they feel they can contact us in the future if they need any advice. I consider it my responsibility on behalf of our pups to ensure that they go to a fantastic home so its just as important to me to get to know the family prior to a pup leaving. We encourage families to visit their puppy if they have been reserved from only a few weeks old this enables us to get to know the family and just as important they get to know us. Knowing that the pups are going to fantastic homes makes it a little easier to part with them at 8 weeks! So if you do reserve a pup, there is one thing I am hopeless at is remembering to put the kettle on, I therefore see this as your responsibility to remind me!!!! This is only because I get caught up in the excitement of meeting new families and seeing the smiles on their face when they meet the pups.
Cavaliers, along with the Irish Setter make absolutely wonderful family pets and I have no hesitation in recommending either breed as pets. We have had pups go to Isle of Mann, Spain, Scotland, Wales and to all parts of the UK. We have also had enquiries from as far as Sudan, USA, Malta, Cyprus, India & France with regards to our pups.
If you wish to take a pup for breeding I will be happy to discuss your requirements and offer any support and advice I can. It is not recommended that you find your bitch in season and on the spare of the moment decide to breed her, at best this is careless. It is best to wait until you have sufficient knowledge and if possible someone to mentor you prior to deciding to breed. Its not simply a case of letting the dog "get on with it" this attitude could endanger the lives of the pups and the mum.
Breeding requires careful planning and often at times can be 24/7 and this can last for 4/5 weeks until you wean the pups if you have a un-natural mum. It can sometimes be compared to riding a rollercoaster with just as many highs as lows. It requires total dedication. You get very little sleep and just like having a new baby your needs come totally last! It can sometimes be a team effort to ensure the well being of new arrivals. I am lucky that my family and friends if need be are willing to assist. During many of our deliveries my 11 year old daughter can often be found assisting in whelping and so far has a good understanding of the breeding process!
To see a video of Romeo our Stud Dog at work check out his page. All our videos can all be seen on youtube when visiting the site simply search for perfideliscavaliers. This is to show you how gentle he is with a female and that the mating process is not as bad you might think. Or simply visit Romeo's page on my website which is constantly being up-dated with new videos and pictures of his litters that he has sired. Should you wish to use Romeo for stud then please do not hesitate to contact me to have a chat. If you have doubts about leaving your girl for mating, check out some of the newer comments in the Guestbook that relates to other peoples experiences regarding this.
We also have a further Stud Dog called Sam who is showing fantastic signs of being just as good a stud as Romeo, having brought in Sam this will enable us to keep back pups sired by Romeo. Like Romeo, Sam has his own page with all his news on.
I hope that you enjoy looking at all the pictures on my website of Cavaliers and Irish Setters. Here you will be able to find out breed information for both the Cavalier K.C.S and Irish Setter. This is meant as a guide only and I strongly recommend that you research breed information fully before considering introducing a puppy to your life. Often we have families that visit us over a period of months viewing litters or just meeting the older dogs prior to reserving a puppy, to ensure that they reach the right decision.
You will be able to see pictures of our pups we have raised in our Gallery.. a huge thank you to all the families that still continue to send me pictures of their pets. I love to receive these pictures and also hearing all your news.
All our dogs live as part of the family and are not kennelled. I do have two large outside kennels and runs, but very rarely these are used. I gain a lot of pleasure from spending time with my dogs and enjoy their company. They are taken out regularly to be exercised and very often this is the whole gang going the park in one journey! I am often asked is it hard work having so many dogs, my reply to this is that its no more harder work than having one! Infact, we have several families that have returned to take second pups from us and also families wishing to return in the future for a second family member!
Puppies are well socialised before they leave for their new homes. From a very early age puppies are socialised with young children and the usual sounds of a busy household. From 5/6 weeks old they are socialised with my other dogs. I have found that spending time with my older dogs is valuable to a pups well-being as the older dogs teach the pups acceptable behaviour and great social skills. Weather permitting I also begin toilet training from 5/6 weeks old. Having said that a lot of what my pups learn is from the older dogs! My pups from being born are given 100% attention and dedication.
We also have the best whelping equipment available including a state of the art Intensive Care Unit for pups that might need extra help when born. I have a hand held Pregnancy Scanner than can detect pregnancy from as early as day 18. If you would like your girl Scanned, please do not hesitate to contact me about this. I also have a Ovulation Detector which detects what is the best day to mate up a girl, which is ideal if your not sure what day your girl came into season or if you have had missed litters. I am constantly reviewing my whelping equipment and spend a lot of time on research to ensure that I have the best available.
A small deposit will secure a pup, and this can now be paid by bank transfer using paypal. Pups come with a puppy pack, health checked by my vet @ 6 weeks. They also come with Puppy Care Sheet and a Sales Contract. All pups come with 4 weeks free insurance and we also activate a further 4 weeks when the Kennel Club forms are returned on your behalf. Pups are wormed up-to-date and flea sprayed. I am a qualified small animals micro-chip implantor and puppies will be Micro-Chipped. I send the completed Kennel Club Transfer of Ownership papers to the Kennel Club on your behalf and therefore ask that upon collection of your pup you bring the relevant transfer fee. I will also do my very best to honour holidays that are pre-booked (if more than 7 days then additional fees are added). I also offer a life times support with regard to your new puppy and should a change of circumstances force you to re-home your pup I will take a dog back and re-home on your behalf check out my Rehoming page.
Again, I would like to thank all the families that have taken pups from us and a big thank you for keeping me up to date with their pup and providing me with up-dated pictures, as without them the site would not be jam packed with all the wonderful pictures of Cavaliers & Setters. If you have taken pups of us and wish to email pictures to me to include in the Cavalier Gallery or our Irish Setter Gallery that would be fantastic. We also have a fun album that you can email any pictures of your pups. Or if you have any special news relating to your puppy that you would like to share, then please email details to me.
Take your time in fully browsing our website and dont forget to visit us again as we are constantly up dating the website.
I hope that you have enjoyed visiting with us and if you have any queries or questions, please email me or telephone Cathy on 07936 195976 and I will do my best to answer them.
