Hi just a little update on how our babies are doing. We have just returned from a weeks holiday touring scotland in our motorhome. Both girls had a fab time and lots of doggie walkies, loch swimming and they travelled so well, I actually think they prefer the motorhome to the house. They have now got over their objections to getting wet in the rain (after all it was wet a lot of the time - it is Scotland!) The girls attracted a lot of attention wherever they went. We even got dragged into the garden of one old lady who had two old cavaliers herself and we chatted to her for ages! She laughed and said she had seen us walking up the road earlier and there was no way she was going to let us past without us popping in. They group of dogs were gathering tourists at one point all gawping and taking photos. Regards Sue

Wednesday last, we arrived back at Cathys for the first time since collecting Rufus, Chester (2) was with us too, they both needed Cathys grooming skills. Chester was nervous at 1st - for about a minute, then he remembered Cathy, Rufus is just a bundle of love, and a lot of love was given. When we collected them, 3 hours later, Chester (Black and Tan) looked gorgeous - see Abbys' picture in "dog grooming", with a nice cool body for all this heat, Rufus, the Ruby, has a fine coat and just needed the fine trimming that Cathy does so well. So please, if your Cav needs a clip, don't worry, with Cathy, your much loved pet is in safe hands, oh, and they smell beautifully when you collect them. Thank you is too small a phrase.

Hi Cath, I would just like to say how brilliant you have been since Daisy was attacked. We could not have asked for more support at a very distressing and difficult time for us. For anyone who is thinking of getting a pup off Cathy she is a fantastic breeder who cares about the pups she breeds not only when they are with her, but after they have gone to their new homes!, Cathy came to see us twice following the attack and even sent Daisy a beautiful card and flowers. I would recommend her to anyone who would like a well bred pup, whose breeder is responsible, caring and supportive. Thank you so much Cathy and all your family!

Living with Chester a gentle 2Yr and loveable rogue Rufus who is 1yr at times we wondered what we had taken on but the last 12 months have been a lot of fun Rufus has given has one or two scares because he is so full of life and has no fears. Chester is so gentle and is going to make a very good Pat Dog. They both make us laugh so much with their antics and give us so much love, everybody loves them when we are out. It has not been a easy year but our two loveable cavaliers have helped us both through. Thanks Cathy for all we have, Love from all of us

Hi Cath, Just thought would update you on the life of Bella! We took her for her first walk on Friday she loved the park and made a friend in a black labrador! We have been taking her to puppy socialisation classes now for a few weeks and she loves it! and is by far the cutest one there! Although I may be slightly biased! She is such a giddy and loving dog we absolutely adore her and can't remember our lives before she came seems like we've had her forever! The vet and puppy trainer have said how fearless she is for a cavalier, the only thing she seems scared of at the moment is the hoover but she's getting better, she shouts at the mop and brush and her ball but other than that we don't hear a peep out of her. Anyway i'll stop gushing now! lol just wanted to let you know how she's doing and how grateful we are to have found you and her! hope Pixie and Dixie are doing well. Speak soon Katie & Martin x x x

Hi Everyone The girls had their first trip out today. A little walk round the small field round the corner before breakfast. Followed by a trip to Doggie Fashions at Trentham Gardens. Everyone adored the girls and it took hours to get down the street, everyone wanted to fuss the dogs and a chat. Both dogs behaved impecabily and after the initial excitement behaved like prima donnas and sat patiently while everyone young and old petted them like s pair of bored film stars. Have fun everyone.

Everybody of course loves her! especially my grandad!! She had her injections on Saturday and the vet said how good she was. She's eating brilliantly and sleeping right through the night. Other than a few little presents she keeps leaving around the house it's as if she's been here forever. We love her so much already and want to thank you again for all you advice and for giving us such a beautiful little girl. We will send you lots of photos as she grows.  Im so glad you updated on Oscar, I was only thinking about him the other week, so happy to see his photos, his expression is like Baileys, ie, Im in charge here ! Bailey is just wonderful, cant find enough words to describe how much we love him, he is such a characture, Cath would go mad if she saw how much we spoil him ! He makes us laugh so much, he is so clever and manipulative !! For such a little dog he has the personalilty of a lion, he is amazing and we cant wait until we get him a little sister this year ( fingers crossed Maddison) ! I would have a house full, I had to talk my husband into getting a puppy, but you should see him with Bailey now, he is such a daddies boy. I will send Cath some photos when I have a minute, get Cath to pass on our email address and we can exchange updates direct. Lots of love you all, esp Oscar. x

Subject:Red Setter Pup 2010: Bodie
Hi Cath, Just over a week since we picked up Bodie, and neither of us can believe how well he has settled in. He has been so well behaved and an absolute joy to have in the house. We have had two full days now with no accidents in the house so he has proven himself a really quick little learner. He has also mastered 'sit', 'come here', and 'shake paw' and is getting there with the 'stay' and 'lie down' commands. Not so keen on the word 'no' yet! He is really inquisitive and wants to learn all about his new surroundings and what everything does. Yesterday we introduced him to some people in the village and they all wanted to take him home so I think he's going to be a little heartbreaker. He had his first set of jabs a few days ago and a check up from the vet who gave him a full clean bill of health. They don't have any Irish Setters registered with them so they thought he was adorable. It will be great once he's had his second set of jabs and then we can start to take him walks to the local forest and beach. Many thanks for all your help and advice since our first enquiry you made the whole process very smooth and couldn't have been friendlier. Your care and attention of the pups is second to none and Jess, Bodie and the other pups are a real credit to you. I'm sure Bodie wouldn't have settled in as quickly if it wasn't for all the love and attention you give them as they grow, getting them used to people, sounds and the world around them. We will keep in touch as Bodie grows up and give you updates on how he is progressing. Many thanks to you and Jess for a wonderful, good natured and handsome pup - he is going to be a very much loved part of our life. Alison and Ciaran x

Cath, can you believe we have had Bailey almost 6 months now ! We love him so much I cant begin to tell you, for a little dog he has an enormous personality with an attitude to match, he is very territorial over his food dish and his place on the sofa and he hates being brushed ! He is very intelligent and is only too aware of how to let us know what he wants, to be honest he is spoilt rotten ! But the love he shows us all in return is beyond words and that extends beyond our house to that of other family and friends, he is just so lovely, and hasnt chewed anything he shouldnt have and didnt show any interest in the Christmas tree or presents at all, we feel blessed to have him and look forward to welcoming his sister as soon as your wonderful dogs can make us one !  Hi Cath, Glad you enjoyed the pics of Lady I sent you the other week. She is so grown up now but still just as cute! Just wanted to say a big thanks again for such an amazing pup - she is the sweetest and most lovely natured dog ever. Before we got Lady Dave was a hardcore cat person but she has completely converted him and he now wants a house full of Cavaliers! I'm sure we will be back to you for a friend for Lady at some point. All the best, Sylv (and big licks from Lady!)

Hiya Cath, Bailey has just returned from his stay in a country house hotel where he has had sausages for breakfast, been the centre of attention and made lots of new friends and slept in an antique brass bed every night. We are so proud of him, he behaved very well apart from going missing in the hotel the other day for 5 mins, he was found sat outside our bedroom door ! I should have brought some of your business cards, could have made a fortune for you. We will certianly take him away with us again, he was amazing. Will forward pictures soon.

Hi Cath, just wanted to drop you a line to say Oscar is doing really well and he had his first trip to the beach today. Oscar was so funny walking on the sand and barking at the sea as the tide washed up against the shore! Love the pictures of Bailey, I think they look alike!I think you can really tell they are brothers. I still cant believe how fast they have both grown. I weighed Oscar today and he is 10lbs 6oz, he is nearly out of his puppy collar infact he is on the last hole, so we will need to buy the next size up soon. Again to anyone reading this who is considering buying a puppy from Cath can I just let you know our puppy is nearly 5 months old, he is such a happy well balanced friendly healthy little guy, he is very handsome and everyone loves him. we are so glad we made the the right choice in buying a Cavalier from Cath. We will send some more pictures soon Gaynor Kev and Oscar (to Julie and family the pictures of Bailey are lovely!!)

Hi Cath, I've taken some new photos of Bailey this afternoon and will hopefully be able to send them later, we are totally in love with him and him us, I know they say that dogs only have one master but I would honestly say he loves us all, he is very close to Oliver as the photos will show you, Oliver hasnt been well today and he has hardly left his side. He grows more and more handsome as the days go by, he has grown so much over the past 2 weeks, no longer has the look of a puppy, more a small dog and I am delighted to say he is getting the all important brown dot between his eyes. He is so lovable and such a baby but also has a fantastic personality, we had a visitor last week who none of us had met before and he was madly in love with her, licked all her make up off them fell asleep in her arms on his back, baby style ! Its lovely to read posts from the new batch of owners, I know the joy they have to come. Hope Oscars owners enjoy the photos !

Charlie is doing fine. He is very gentle, loving and playful - all the things we hoped he would be. The kids have been fine with him, playing but careful not to be too excitable around him, he loves them too. His toilet training is still hit and miss but we will keep taking him outside where he loves sniffing around and playing with leaves. Our cats are OK with him, not over the moon which we expected, but their domain is now upstairs as we have intalled a safety gate at the foot of the stairs. Charlie loves to chase the cats though, which is quite funny to watch. Thanks for all your help. Chrissy

Oscar met a new friend today at the park called Alfie,he is a black and tan cavalier 16 weeks old!! Oscar was delighted to finally meet a dog the same size and age as him!!!, they had a good play and chased each other around for ages it was so cute it made me wish I had got two puppies because they looked so happy together!!! Oscar is so good off his lead, as soon as we hit the park he sits and waits for the lead to be removed, he walks along side untill we reach the top field then had a good run around, his recall is fantastic. He is still barking at big dogs, however he is becoming a lot more relaxed around them after a good sniff. Promise to remember to take the camera next time and send in some photos bye for now Gaynor, Kev and Oscar xx

Hi, just thought I would give you all an update on Oscar. Oscar is doing fab!! His weight is now 8lb 1oz. On command he will sit, stay, lay down and give a paw. He enjoys going for walks and is very good on his lead. We have started to take him to the park and today I even let him off the lead and he came back to me with no problem, the only problem I have is when a dog approaches him, Oscar thinks he is very big and brave and will bark at them (although his tail is between his legs so I think he is just pretending.) He was always ok with dogs however last week while out for a morning strol a little yorkie jumped out at him and he really got a fright, ever since he has been a little bit nervous. We are slowly getting him to be more confident,I find the big dogs are very friendly and calm, its the little ones that are aggressive!!!. Oscar loves to meet people he is so happy to meet anyone new and everybody in the neighbourhood and the park think he is adorable. He met a new friend today in the park called Marley he is a 3 year old black cocker spaniel and Oscar seemed to like him!!. Oscar has also been to the puppy grooming shop to have his nails clipped which he didnt mind at all, he was more interested in licking the womans face!!. So thats all from us for now, I will take some pictures of him in the park and send them soon. Just a last note to anyone reading this who might be considering getting a puppy from Cath I would say GO FOR IT!! I have never had a dog before but with all of the help and information you get from Cath and the joy of having one of her puppies its so easy, Oscar is such a happy well balanced little guy full of love!!! we would not be without him. Glad to know his big brother is doing well and the pictures of him are really cute. Bye for now Gaynor Kev and Oscar!!! xx

It's taken me a while to visit the site but I desperately wanted to leave a message to all of you potentially looking at purchasing a puppy from Cath. My family and I were very lucky enough to have 2 gorgeous Irish red setters from Cath -Finley and Fraser over 18mths ago. From the moment we visited Cath at home we knew we had found a genuine, hard working and experienced breeder. We were filled with complete confidence when we met Cath even through her bleary eyes due to having no sleep with the new litter of setters, we knew she was the breeder for us. We were regularly updated with emails and photo's during their early weeks with their mum and when the time came to collect them, we sent off with a dvd compilation of photo's of them growing day by day. We felt that we had also gained a friend in Cath to whom we could pick up the phone and call whenever we needed to ask a question, however silly. The "twins" as they became to be known settled in and we were stopped at every opportunity in the street, the fields and the vets where people commented what beautiful dogs they were. Unfortunately when the twins turned 8mths and due to my health complications we had to make the most heart breaking decision and have them rehomed. Without hesitation we contacted Cath first for help and she took the matter out of our hands, travelled to our house with her family and took the boys back with her and successfully rehomed them and we're forever grateful for this. I just want wanted to let people know that you'll honestly never find a more genuine family who's ethics in breeding are 100% genuine and coming from me, who's a vet nurse-I've seen a lot of undesirable breeders. Good luck

Hi cathy. Alfie is doing fine and is definatley being spoilt rotten. We have a holiday home in Wales near to the beach and we went for a week. Alfie has done some funny things but this has to be the funniest We went down to the beach and he loves it there. He loves to chase things and a segull was in the air and it caught his eye. The tide was out but there were some puddles. The segull flew over a puddle and Alfie didn't know the puddle was there and he ran straight through it and stood in the middle. He hasnt got used to water yet and he didnt have a clue were he was. I ran towards him and he ran straight out of the water to me and rolled in the sand. We couldn't give him a bath because we didnt have any dog shampoo but at least we could dry him off with a towel. It was really funny. From Ellie.

Hi I thought I'd give an update of Ruby, who we bought from you back in January. She is beautiful and is enjoying her life in the countryside. Like you I thought at one time I would show her but she is such a good hunter that I am going to take her on shoots with me instead. She is a real gundog and can sniff a rabbit out better than my flat-coated retriever!! She is going to be taught to retrieve as there is no longer a need for pointing on modern day shoots. As you can see from the photo attached, she has grown and her coat is in tip top condition, she is now as tall as my flat-coat but nowhere near as wide, bearing in mind she was the runt of the litter she is now an absolute stunner!! She has a brilliant character and bounds around with endless energy. We all love her to bits. I'll look on your website in future to see if the rehomed setters get anywhere in the show ring. All the best Julia

Hello, Oscar is doing really well, enjoying playing in the garden, eating his food and sleeping Lots!!!. Today was his trip to the Vets for his first injections. Oscar was excellent in the car, he really seems to enjoy it, when we got to the vets he was the star attraction!! everyone was pleased to see him and commented on his good nature and handsome face. He was very good for the vet he didn't even notice the injection as he was too busy eating a treat she had put on the table for him. The vet was very impressed at how good Oscar was and how he sat down when told to do so. The vet also said we must have got him from a very good breader because he is confident happy relaxed little guy!! He came home and crashed out for 2 hours then he was up and about again playing in the garden. I will update you on his next trip in two weeks time, I will also send some new pictures soon. Hope Bailey his big brother is doing okay, Oscar has a toy dog which we call Bailey and he sleeps with it every night, he also takes is all over the house with him, we bought it because its white and brown with floppy ears just like his brothers. We regard our selves so very lucky to be "owned" by her, and we really can't thank you enough for letting us have her. Bonnie is so loving, and loves everyone, and thinks everyone should love her, (which they do), the exception being cats, which she will chase given the chance. She is so laid back, and she takes anything new in her stride. Bonnie seems to be a lot like her grandma, loves your feet and legs, more so if she can catch you getting out of the shower, But she tries to avoid getting wet herself, will walk around puddles if she can. I will send some photo's soon. regards Irene and Eric

Subject:Chester - First Visit as a Pets as Therapy Dog
Tuesday 4th August 1015 a.m. Arrangements made to visit Penkett Lodge Care Home, Penkett Road, Wallasey, (also home to Michaels' mum). As soon as the PAT Dog T-Shirt was put on, Chester knew what was afoot, and was keen to 'get-to -it', he was as pleased as Punch with his new designer collar, and was quiet on the way to Penkett (10 minutes run). When we arrived, the PAT coat went on and his tail wagged, the staff were expected us and the door was opened, Chester just marched straight in, with Marilyn barely at arms length. They were invited to just go in and make themselves known to the residents in the main sitting room, (I stayed in the hallway, as an observer). Marilyn introduced herself and Chester and said who they were from, and why they were there, and then I saw some of the most moving sights in a long time. Chester knew what he had to do, and gently approached one lady, who sat forward in her seat, and said to the staff, (who were present during the visit) "Is he alive ? Is he real ? Can I touch him" Marilyn lifted him up to her, and with a great big smile on her face she patted him on the head, and he gave her a kiss. Marilyn had a handshake from another resident and a big thankyou for bringing Chester in to see them, she 'had a spaniel herself at one time' For treats, Marilyn had brought a bag of cheese bits - small but much loved by Chester - it was interesting to note that 1 lady made use of a very gnarled and disjointed hand to give Chester a piece of cheese. Only 1 person was definite about not meeting him, and her wishes were respected. While we were there, we went downstairs and knocked on my mothers' door to say hello, and the lift was used - albeit reluctantly, on returning, the lift was used with 1 PAT dog safely tucked under Marilyns' arms. As we left - after about 15 minutes, we assured the staff that next Tuesday was the next PAT dog visit, which was greatly welcomed, and I could see that there plenty of smiles as Marilyn and Chester said their goodbyes. The visit was made by Marilyn and Chester, the authorised visitors, I am going to sign up as a 'supporter' asap. If this is of interest to any other parties if you know of Eileen, then do please pass it on, with best PAT wishes, Michael (typist and supporter) Marilyn and Chester registered PAT dog visitors

Today was a great day, Rufus was fully protected with his jabs, and was able to go to the Harrison Park for the first time. He loved it, running here there and everywhere (on a flexi of course), sniffing the grass, not something he has seen a lot of so far, and was unfazed by meeting other dogs, even if they were immune to the charms of a ruby puppy - GRRRR, P's and Q's, lesson 1, taken on board, what can I pick up and chew next, ah, a lolly-ice stick, YUM, or even better, Bark, really loved that, Dobermans or Mastiffs didn't bother him, just his DAD, LOL, still, I'm sure I'll respond well to training ! Just cannot put in print how much we love him, from Mike, Marilyn, Chester and Rufus x

I am writing this for others to read who are considering whether Catherine is the breeder for them. We live not very far away from a Boarding Kennel/Breeders, it has a very good reputation and the puppies there are less money than Catherine charges for hers but we decided that we wanted to get our puppy from a professional breeder, and we certainly dont regret it. Had we bought a pup from our local breeder he would have been 8 weeks old and we would never have known what he had been upto for those first 8 weeks of his life, with our puppies Barney and Bailey, we have watched them grow and have had many communications with Catherine giving us updates, so on reflection we are very pleased that we found her and cant wait to bring home our 2 little boys !

A few days ago me and my sister were performing in a show. My mum and dad were coming to watch so we left Alfie with my uncle. His friend was with him while Alfie was there and she has a lhasa apso called Oscar. When my mum picked Alfie up Oscar and him were playing with each other in the garden so it looks like alfie has a new friend. At the moment my mum is taking Alfie out for short walks to get him a bit more used to his lead which apparantley is going really well

Rufus lives up to his name, see it, chew it, whether in a bowl, or lying in a cage next to him, anywhere ! Chester loves him - really, not too sure of him when he is chewing his ears (etc) LOL, though when it's game on, watch out world you get 2 rockets hurtling through your legs, - starting at front room, through the back, and round the garden, its' no wonder Chester is knackered half the time ! Rufus has brought out the puppy in Chester (half-bro) and we will always love him for that, and a million other things. Rufus is demanding, very intelligent, knows how to open a door, and lives up to his name, and WE LOVE HIM TO PIECES, especially when he falls asleep on Marilyns knee, or gives you a puppy kiss, thank you Cathy, and "assistant" for all your hard work x x

Hi Cathy, even though you already know we must tell you again how delighted we are to welcome Sophie into our family. We knew that you planned to keep her so we feel especially grateful. She really has settled in wonderfully. We stuck religiously to the routine you gave us and she is thriving beautifully. She can already sit, stay, come and lie down on command. She's had such fun in the garden today with our girls and the girls next door. She's had her injections and will start going out next week :) We'll keep you updated and will send some pics. So glad you left the pics and videos on from when the pups were younger. Look after yourself, bye for now Debbie, Martin, Lauren, Lucy, Sophie (and Taz the cat and Hannah and Sally the guinea pigs lol) x

Alfie had his first injection on exactly the day he was 8 weeks old. I wasn't there but my mum and dad took him. Apparently the vet said he was very well trained before we picked him up. Which is great. He is having his next injection on the 25th June. We took him up to Conway to look at some caravans and everyone loved him and we met loads of people! From Ellie

Cathy, I just wanted to drop you a line to say a heartfelt thanks for all your help, support and understanding with regard to Moet. Our decision to have Moet rehomed was an extremely difficult and painful one. We love him so much but were clearly unable to give him the attention and time he deserved. It must have been so difficult to deal with our sadness when we returned him to you, but you were so understanding and supportive at such a difficult time. I would never hesitate to recommend you as a breeder, you are so devoted to your dogs and knowledgeable in your field. Once again many thanks for all your help, you have become a valued and good friend. Michelle & Callum xxx

Lilly is settling in wonderfully, the whole family fell in love with her immediately and she gets so much fussing she loves it. we introduced her to the cat yesterday and lilly behaved so well, she didnt struggle or bark she was very calm but the cat who is 3 times lillys size ran away. She absolutely loves the big garden and goes crazy! she did a proper forwards rolly polley yesterday! we have to watch her carefully in the house because she seems to enjoy running head first into things. Lilly also has a real foot fetish which is really quite sweet. she was really fantastic last night, when we put her to bed she fell alseep straight away and no one had to go down once to re-settle her and when we came down in the morning there were no accidents and she went straight to sit by the back door and went to the toilet straight away outside, shes such an angel! we had a 10 minute training session today teachin her to sit and shes such a quick learner! whenever cheese is on offer and we tell her to sit she does it but she need the treat for encouragement. Lilly already has a favourite chew toy which is so funny because she carries it round with her and its bigger then her! Lilly is a very happy puppy and loves snuggling up with all my sisters teddies especially her life size dog teddy. Shes eating well, finishing all her meals. thanku so much for bringing lilly into our lives, we adore her!! hope the other puppies are doing well xx
